In this Daily: A Week Full of Classic Costa Rican Activities as We Wind Down July

After the lively celebrations of last weekend, we hum back into the vibrant rhythm of Las Catalinas life this week, winding down a summer month of July that brought holidays of independence and national pride throughout, culminating in the Dia de la Anexion festivities of Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.

We look now to the week ahead, which brings returning classics Costa Rican activities that are core to the Las Catalinas weekly schedule.

A Week Full of Classic Costa Rican Activities as We Wind Down July

The week begins with some familiar fitness: HIIT at 7am at the pavilion on Playa Danta and Swimming Lessons at 7am at the Beach Club. Schedules for both will be the same throughout the week as usual, with HIIT Monday and Wednesday and Swimming Lessons every weekday.

Coming up on Tuesday at 6pm, the Beach Club will be hosting Cuba Libre, a Cuban-inspired pop-up dinner from Chef Gilberto Briceño. We mentioned Chef Briceño’s thoughts on slow cooking yesterday and this will be another chance to taste his prowess, with a main dish of pork roasted in a caja china (chinese box). Though you might not guess from the name, preparation in a caja china is actually a very rich Cuban tradition, and this meal fits the tradition of beachside barbecues in warm summer evenings well.

Later in the week Movie Night at 6pm on Friday is returning, hosted on the beachfront by Plaza Danta and rounding out the schedule for the weekdays.

Finally, at the end of the week, Santarena will be hosting their Sunset Gin & Tonics at 5pm on Saturday, followed by their Sunday morning brunch at 10am. It’s a pair of casually elegant events with superlative food and drink to come together after a long week and enjoy time together.

Looking forward to a great week ahead.
