In this Daily: Kicking Back in the Hammocks on What Might be the Best Beach in Costa Rica

Today is El Día de la Anexión del Partido de Nicoya -- or as it’s often informally known, “Guanacaste Day” -- and we’re welcomed by a sunny Guanacaste morning, with a light breeze coming off of the water and a sky full of soft white clouds. Looking to be a great day to spend on the beach and take advantage of the newest addition to Playa Danta.

An old favorite has returned once again: the hammocks are back in their grove next to Limonada

Hammocks on Playa Danta: Kicking Back on What Could Be the Best Beach in Costa Rica

On a day that is often celebrated by coming together with family and finding the nearest beach for a barbecue, it’s fitting that the hammocks have come back to Playa Danta. The hammocks are handwoven and each uniquely colored and shaded, accenting the sea blues, forest greens, and sand hues of the beachfront.

The little grove by Limonada is a space that offers relaxation with a touch of sociability. Sheltered from the street and the beach by bushes and trees, but not entirely obscured, the grove is ideal to relax while swaying in the breeze, listening to the waves and the sounds of town filtering in.

Kicking back and looking out at the cove, sipping a refreshing smoothie from Limonada after a session out playing in the waves, it’s easy to feel like this is just about the best beach in Costa Rica. Friendly beachfront dining is just steps away at Limonada, casually elegant cuisine a few steps further at Ponciana, and Pura Vida Ride sits at the end of the road ready to equip any adventure. The games all across the shaded beachfront -- cornhole, beach jenga, slacklining, beach volleyball, swings -- create a natural gathering place where families can play and make new friends. Beyond the trees, perfectly formed waves invite you in, with a calm cove beyond that calls for paddle-powered adventures or snorkeling among the reefs. And behind you, along the walkable streets filled with friendly people, home.

Feliz Día de la Anexión. Wouldn’t want to spend it anywhere else but here.
