In this Daily: 2 Calle Virginia’s Views and Outdoor Beach Home Living
2 Calle Virginia has just broken ground, a home that will stand at the corner of Calle Virginia and Calle Cartagena up near Camino Las Catalinas. This home has an important position in town as it is one of the first homes visitors will see while entering from Camino Las Catalinas, and it helps set the tone for both Calle Virginia and Calle Cartagena, blending the architectural styles of both streets.
The result is a home that skillfully blends the aesthetic of two streets, facilitates expansive views of the islotes pitahayas, and embraces outdoor beach home living
Standing at the intersection of two streets with their own identity is a challenge for a designer, but Architect Eduardo Castillo handles it skillfully to create a home that blends the homey neighborhood feel of Calle Virginia with the balcony culture of Calle Cartagena.
2 Calle Virginia particularly embraces outdoor spaces, with covered terraces on every level, a private garden entered off of Calle Virginia, and a dining terrace and pool patio at the lower level of the home.
One of the focuses of the home was to create some of town’s best views towards the Islotes Pitahayas, and the Calle Cartagena wing of the home does this with ascending terraces connected by an outer stair.
Three levels of stacked covered terraces is relatively unique for Beach Town, and the outer stair that unites them is a key feature of the home. In 2 Calle Virginia, all of the internal spaces including bedrooms are separate, which creates a great privacy in the home, but each of these internal spaces are by the outdoor spaces. This encourages outdoor living, and means that most socializing takes place in spaces where there’s no worry about sandy feet or wet swimsuits.
In all, 2 Calle Virginia is a home that invites the beach in through its views, embraces the outdoor lifestyle of a coastal town, skillfully blends two street aesthetics, and serves as a welcome when arriving to town. Another piece of the neighborhood coming into place.
