In this Daily -- ConnectOcean and Futuro Brilliante
Clear skies and warm weather all day today, with an on-and-off breeze starting out of the northeast but slowly shifting to blow from the Pacific as the day goes on. Was a great morning to be out on the trails, with temperatures in the high 70s and the wind very still, and from now until late afternoon the conditions will continue to be brilliant out in the water, with the extra sunlight bumping visibility up quite a bit.
We touched on Manta Rays yesterday, who we're getting reports of thanks to ConnectOcean, and today they're in the news again thanks to their partnership with Futuro Brilliante and their dedication to safe swimming and environmental education. Many of us know ConnectOcean from their conservation efforts, their morning swimming lessons, and their excellent Citizen Science diving excursions, but a massive part of ConnectOcean's work is in community outreach.
Two major projects that ConnectOcean works on with the surrounding community are their Environmental Education and Water Safety programs and their Nipper Life Guard programs. Together, these programs combine to provide free swimming lessons to anyone who doesn't know how to swim, engage local youth in environmental education to help them become the next generation protecting our aquatic environments, and then offer the opportunity for these young learners to train as life guards to help give back and improve the water safety of those around them.
