The XTERRA triathlon is just around the corner, taking place from August 22nd to 24th.
As the event approaches, we want to share a few reminders and refresh some key information to keep in mind for these dates.
Some residents may remember that last year the main race took place on Saturday, but this year the final day of awards and the main competition will be on Sunday. We want to highlight this change so you can plan your schedule accordingly and join the awards ceremony.
Planning for this year’s XTERRA began as soon as last year’s event ended, meaning it has been carried out with great dedication and care over the course of the year. It is being expertly organized by Performance Solutions, led by Luis Diego Chaverri and Carlos Díaz, with the full support of Las Catalinas and Town Administration.
With 700 athletes registered, part of this year’s planning has focused on parking, as we are aware demand will be higher during the event days. Parking options assigned to athletes include the Main Parking area, the Vivero, and the Campamento. For those assigned to the latter two, shuttles will operate every 15 minutes, ensuring smooth transportation for participants and spectators while keeping a calm atmosphere for homeowners.
This XTERRA will also be special for its sustainability initiatives. The first focuses on enhanced waste management, with a specialized company overseeing trash collection and recycling to ensure all waste is handled responsibly. The second, already announced in a previous edition of The Daily, involves planting 150 trees in the nursery area as part of our environmental commitment, contributing to reforestation, biodiversity, and long-term ecological restoration. We will share more details soon for those who wish to volunteer.
