Celebrating the Team Behind Las Catalinas’ Main Road Project

We’re excited to share that the improvement of the Public Street, a collaborative donation project with the Municipality of Santa Cruz, has reached an incredible milestone. After months of hard work, we’ve achieved a fully functional road despite challenges like tough weather, tight deadlines, and even a wave of illness that impacted many workers in the final weeks. While a few finishing touches remain, this accomplishment is something to celebrate!

This road isn’t just infrastructure—it’s a testament to the resilience, dedication, and teamwork of everyone involved. As one of the most complex projects ever undertaken in Las Catalinas, its public nature, challenging weather, and demanding timeline make the success even sweeter. Being pioneers in creating a project of this caliber elevates Las Catalinas as a leader in Guanacaste and Costa Rica.

Meet the Visionaries Behind the Project:

  • Andrés (DCL): An industrial engineer with nearly 15 years at Las Catalinas, Andrés has played a key role in every infrastructure project since the first homes were built.
  • Jaime Rojas: The very first employee of Las Catalinas 15 years ago, Jaime continues to provide invaluable consulting expertise.
  • Juan Carlos Núñez: The mastermind of Las Catalinas’ civil infrastructure, designing the hidden systems that keep everything running smoothly.
  • Alfredo Bettoni: The designer of the town’s electrical network, ensuring reliable and efficient energy distribution.
  • Ricardo Arosemena & Tony: Creators of the conceptual design for the road, securing its approval with the Municipality.
  • Sara Bega, Daniel Marín, & Karina Líos: The architectural and landscape design team, blending beauty and functionality. Karina’s expertise in root systems, height, and foliage was vital to the project.
  • Jose Coto: Brought the road’s design to life visually, crafting presentation drawings that captured the vision for homeowners.
  • Alonso Piedra (Alfa): Owner of Alfa and an expert in road construction, bringing decades of specialized experience.
  • Juan & Marcos (Alfa): Civil engineers whose expertise in infrastructure and complex projects has been crucial to the project’s success.
  • Manuel Muñoz (DCL): General Master Builder, ensuring the flawless execution of every detail onsite.
  • Tatiana Vargas (Alfa): Occupational engineer dedicated to safeguarding the health and well-being of all workers and visitors.

Projects like this don’t happen without incredible people. A special thanks goes to Alfa and their crew of 100 workers who pushed through long hours, unpredictable weather, and countless hurdles to make it happen. This talented created something truly extraordinary.

This project also marks a bittersweet moment as we say goodbye to Diana Cascante, our Director of Design, Development, and Construction. After 8 years of shaping 75% of the town’s construction, this road is her parting gift to Las Catalinas. Diana’s work has left an indelible mark on our community, and we wish her all the best as she takes on new adventures beyond our shores.
