Every July 25, Costa Rica commemorates the historic decision made by the people of the Partido de Nicoya in 1824, a moment that would forever shape the country and its identity.
This weekend, Las Catalinas is joining the celebration through Guanacaste Nights, a three-day event inspired by the ingredients, flavors, music, and traditions of the region. Through shared meals, local culinary talent, live performances, and opportunities to gather, the event invites residents and visitors to appreciate some of the expressions that make Guanacaste so distinctive.

As we come together to enjoy these experiences, we also want to take a moment to recognize that Guanacastecan culture extends far beyond any single event or celebration. It lives in the people, families, and communities who have preserved their knowledge, traditions, recipes, stories, craftsmanship, and ways of gathering across generations, while continuing to shape the province’s identity today.

Living and working in this region comes with the privilege of learning from that history and the responsibility of approaching it with respect. We are grateful to the Guanacastecan communities whose creativity, warmth, knowledge, and contributions continue to enrich Costa Rica every day.
To our neighbors, friends, colleagues, and everyone who proudly calls Guanacaste home, we wish you a meaningful and joyful celebration.
