Recently, we shared how Travel + Leisure highlighted Las Catalinas while covering Costa Rica’s recognition as one of the happiest countries in Latin America. In this latest report, Costa Rica climbed from 23rd place in 2023 to 4th in 2025, sharing the top ranks with countries such as Finland, Iceland, Denmark, and Sweden.
This time, we turn to another globally recognized voice, BBC, which recently published an article gathering personal reflections from residents across the countries ranked in the top five of the World Happiness Report 2026. In this article, one of Town’s residents was featured, and today we want to echo a few of his words.
Adrian, a resident of Las Catalinas who was interviewed, shared that when asked what makes Costa Rica such a happy place, his answer was immediate: “Community, community, community.”

He described a way of life shaped by shared values, where people gather not just out of proximity, but out of a common desire to live well, spend time outdoors, and be neighbours. He also spoke about nature as one of the most constant and meaningful sources of happiness, the setting where daily life unfolds, whether through a walk along the beach or the trails, or simply by witnessing wildlife moving through its natural rhythm, from howler monkeys in the trees to fish in the bay.
Adrian also highlighted the quality of life in Costa Rica, noting that it is the energy of both locals and expats that makes this place feel truly special.

And while these words speak about Costa Rica as a whole, they also reflect something familiar to those who experience life in Town, where the design of Las Catalinas encourages this kind of connection between people, and between people and nature, in a way that feels both natural and deeply meaningful.
