Earlier last week, our marketing team captured an unexpected moment while flying the drone over Town.
From above, our content creator noticed what first looked like a large white movement in the sea. As the drone moved closer, it became clear that it was a swarm of fish moving together in tight formation.
From the sky, their movement was mesmerizing. At times they formed a near perfect circle. At others, their pattern shifted into something that looked almost like a figure eight. The group moved quickly and in near total synchrony, as if guided by a single shared instinct.
You can take a look at the video, caught from the sky.
This behavior is known as schooling. Many species of fish swim in coordinated groups as a way to protect themselves from predators, conserve energy, and improve navigation. By moving together, they create the illusion of a much larger organism, making it harder for predators to single out one fish. The constant shifting shapes and fluid patterns are part of that defensive strategy.
Seen from above, it felt less like a strategy and more like choreography. A reminder that just beneath the surface, life in the ocean moves with its own rhythm.
