A Positive Footprint During XTERRA Weekend

This year, as part of XTERRA Costa Rica weekend, XTERRA is once again partnering with the Las Catalinas Environmental Department for a special tree planting activity on Sunday. Like last year, the initiative is being organized as a way to bring people together around something that reaches beyond the races themselves.

XTERRA Costa Rica takes place in a setting defined by its natural beauty, from the trails and hillsides to the ocean views that shape the experience for athletes and visitors. But the event is also about recognizing that this landscape is not only a backdrop for competition. It is something to care for, support, and help strengthen over time.

Last year’s tree planting was a beautiful success, with the participation of CEPIA and children from the community, who joined in to help plant trees at the arboretum. It became one of those moments where the energy of the weekend expanded beyond sport, creating a connection between athletes, residents, visitors, and the natural environment around Town.

This year, the planting is expected to take place once again at the nursery, on Sunday of XTERRA weekend. More details will be shared soon so volunteers who would like to participate can save the date and join this meaningful activity.

Over time, each tree planted contributes to the health and resilience of the surrounding landscape. These efforts help increase carbon sequestration capacity, support local biodiversity, and contribute to offsetting the event’s carbon footprint.  More than a symbolic gesture, the planting reflects a growing commitment from both Las Catalinas and XTERRA to leave a positive mark on the natural environment that makes XTERRA Costa Rica such a special experience.
