A Growing Community in Town as La Rambla Welcomes New Residents

When COVID first hit in 2020, the world paused for a moment. After a few months, life began to move slowly again, and changes started to take shape. The uncertainty of that time made many rethink their choices and confront the question of what kind of life they wanted to live and where they could truly be happy. It led many to make bold changes, leaving behind busy cities and fast-paced lives in search of something better, a life quieter and calmer, richer in connection with oneself and with nature. A life lived well.

Guanacaste felt this shift deeply, as many foreigners arrived with new dreams and a desire for a fresh start. Some of them found their way to Las Catalinas. Even though COVID was a difficult moment, what followed was the calm after the storm. For Town, this new influx of people marked a clear before and after, bringing the highest number of full-time residents seen so far.

After that, around 60 people were living full-time in Las Catalinas, making Town feel lively and dynamic, the community that had been envisioned was truly coming to life.

Now, we’re seeing another wave of people moving in, this time for a more positive reason. La Rambla added five new buildings to Las Catalinas and introduced the Well-Living Residences, a product designed especially for long-term renters seeking the peaceful lifestyle many had already found here a few years before.

Today, we have 14 new long-term renters. There’s a bit of everything: families with children, young couples, and retired adults. Some are here for work, having found in the Well-Living apartments a calm and convenient place to live, close to their offices, yet near the beach and surrounded by opportunities to walk, hike, or mountain bike.

Two more families are arriving in November. A young couple with children, and another family that will use their apartment as a place to rest and disconnect from San José. And in December, a retired couple will also arrive to live here full-time.

By the end of the year, we’ll have 18 occupied apartments and a total of 39 new residents, along with five dogs and two cats joining the pet community in Town. This means that nearly 100 people will be living here full-time, filling Las Catalinas with even more life and energy. Each new person and pet who arrives brings something special to Town, a place that has so much to offer in return.
