A Fresh Look for the Signs at La Estancia

At La Estancia, some of the most familiar wooden signs are getting a fresh new look.

The Activities Impact Team, who helps run La Estancia, has been working with their staff and don Welfran, the woodworker at La Estancia, to restore, repaint and even do new wooden signs that help guide visitors through the area and toward Las Catalinas.

These charming signs have been part of the arrival experience for a long time. For those coming by car, they are among the first small details that begin to mark the transition into Las Catalinas. They point the way toward Town, La Estancia, and the spaces that make this area feel so alive: the farm, the horses, the pickleball courts, the chickens, and the place where visitors can find fresh eggs and honey.

The project is still a work in progress, but it is part of the kind of care that quietly shapes the experience of a place and in this case, getting there. A coat of paint, restored wood, clearer wayfinding, and the hands of people who know and care for these details all help keep La Estancia feeling warm, welcoming, and well loved.

La Estancia has always had a simple charm of its own. It is a working, active, and familiar part of Las Catalinas, where daily life feels close to the land and where small moments often become part of someone’s visit. Seeing these signs renewed is a lovely reminder that maintenance is not only about keeping things functional. It is also about preserving the character, beauty, and sense of welcome that people feel as they move through the area.

Little by little, these restored signs are helping La Estancia look cared for in the way it has always felt: rustic, useful, friendly, and full of life.
