A beautiful day for the race, with temperatures ideal around sunrise, a strong breeze helping keep temperatures down, and no major heat until the very end of the day, when the TRI will be long finished.
After a tremendous buildup over the past few months, the Las Catalinas TRI 2019 was this morning, setting out from Playa Danta at 6am and looping all around town before returning to finish right past Limonada.
The winner, defending his 2018 title, was XTerra World Champion Rom Akerson! With a flashing smile and a friendly laugh, he was there to welcome in many of the finishing competitors, and stopped by to wish everyone success in the upcoming year. Later this afternoon, there will be live music on Playa Danta at 1pm, activities for kids on the beach, and finally the Kids Run at 3:30pm and the Award Ceremony at 5pm. Altogether, a fun end to an already exciting day, and in the meantime keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram for more coverage.
